I tried looking for information on the internet and books but I could not find any or understand it.
If you could tell me things like its characteristics, what it is like to work with, the grain, where it grows, basically all information that you know about it.

I think historically burls were often hollowed out into bowls.
Plain and simple burl is like a large outgrowth off the side of a tree. Burls are caused by stress on a tree from either man-made or natural causes. The wood grain within the burl is often highly irregular as compared to the straight grain of normal wood. This unusual grain pattern makes burl beautiful to look at and highly prized as a raw material. Most burls actually grow beneath the ground and the wood is extremely rare in most species of trees. Burl is often used for wood sculptures, veneers, picture frames, art, and furniture.
